1. Membrane Transporter/Ion Channel
  2. Sodium Channel
  3. Batrachotoxin

Batrachotoxin (BTX) is a potent neurotoxin and cardiotoxin found in the skin of the Colombian poison dart frog (Phyllobates aurotaenia). Batrachotoxin is a sodium channel activator that interacts with voltage-gated sodium channels on the cell membrane, blocking the normal closure of sodium channels, causing a continuous influx of sodium ions into the cell, thereby causing a sustained depolarization of the cell.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
