Penisterpenoid A (Compound 1) is a PINK1/Parkin mitochondrial autophagy signaling pathway activator, which can be isolated from the rhizosphere fungus Penicillium of the medicinal plant Bupleurum. Penicillioid A can reduce lipid accumulation and significantly improve mitochondrial function both in vitro and in vivo[1].

In Vitro

Penisterpenoid A (Compound 1) (20 μM, 24 h) reduces lipid accumulation and exhibits lipid-lowering activity in human normal liver cell line LO2 by selectively activating the PINK1/Parkin mitochondrial autophagy signaling pathway[1].
