Postsynaptic potential (PSP)

Definition:

Postsynaptic potential, a temporary change in the electrical polarization of the cell membrane of a nerve cell or neuron, is the result of the chemical transmission of nerve impulses across the synapses. Postsynaptic potentials can lead to the production of new impulses.
