RNA Immunoprecipitation

Definition:

RNA Immunoprecipitation is used to study the specific interaction mechanisms between RNA and proteins. The method chemically cross-links proteins to RNA (e.g., using formaldehyde), and then immunoprecipitates the target protein to separate the cross-linked complex. RNA is released by reversing the cross-link, followed by RNA analysis using reverse transcription PCR or RNA-Seq, which quantifies RNA types and abundance bound to proteins.
