Small Angle Neutron Scattering

Definition:

Small Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) is used to analyze the size, shape, and orientation of components in a sample. It is widely used for structural studies of biomolecules, nanoparticles, and polymers. In SANS experiments, a neutron beam is directed at the sample, and the scattering intensity and angular distribution of neutrons are measured to analyze its internal structure. This method is especially useful for studying protein conformational changes, complex formation, and interchain forces in polymers in solution.
