Description

BTCy is a near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence probe with polarity-responsive and cell plasma membrane-targeting properties. BTCy can be used for in vivo imaging of tumor tissue (λex = 561 nm, λem = 600-700 nm)[1].

In Vitro

BTCy (0-50 μM; 24 h) has low cytotoxicity and is biocompatible for living cells[1]. BTCy exhibits good fluorescence stability and is able to detect the polarity change selectively[1].
BTCy (10 μM) stains HeLa and HepG2 cells. The cell plasma membrane is specifically and strongly lit up after being stained for 0.5–5 h. The fluorescence intensity of BTCy on the cell plasma membrane shows slight reduction after 2 h[1].
BTCy (0.1-10 μM; 30 min) stain shows specific fluorescence on the cell plasma membrane even at a low concentration at 100 nM in HeLa cells[1].
BTCy (0.1-10 μM; 30 min) can be used for monitoring cell plasma membrane polarity variation during the ferroptosis process[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

BTCy (0.5 mg/mL; 25 μL; in situ injection) presents a significantly strong and long-time sustained fluorescence signal in the tumor area compared with the normal tissue in the 4T1-tumor-bearing mice[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
