Calcium trinatrium diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid hydrate (Ca-DTPA trisodium salt hydrate) is a metal chelator and a useful antidote (such as acute cadmium intoxication). Diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid calcium trisodium salt hydrate is a nontoxic inhibitor of CMV replication[1][2].

In Vitro

The antiviral activity of Calcium trinatrium diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid hydrate is suppressed by metal ions with a decreasing potency order of Mn2+/Zn2+>Fe2+>Cu2+>Fe3+. Diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid calcium trisodium salt hydrate inhibits CMV L-antigen production with EC50 ranging from 6.1 to 9.9 μM[2].
