Description

Kaolin is a family of kaolinitic clays, which is found in the earth's crust. Kaolin alleviates the toxicity of graphene oxide for mammalian cells. Kaolin can be utilized in industrial, cosmetic and medical fields, excipient[1][2][3][4][5].

In Vitro

Kaolin (50, 100 μg/mL, 72 h) combined with graphene oxide (50, 100 μg/mL, 72 h) reduces the toxicity of graphene and decreases the percentage of cells in HCT-116 cells[3].
Kaolin (100 μg/mL, 30-180 min) induces intercellular ROS generation in RAW264 cells[4].
Kaolin (100 μg/mL, 24 h) increases the concentrations of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in RAW264 cells[4].
Kaolin (100 μg/mL, 60 min) increases DNA damage in the A549 cells co-cultured with RAW264 cells[4].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Kaolin (0.05 and 0.2 mg, intratracheal instillation, lasting for 3 h and 24 h) induces DNA damage in the lungs of mice[4].
Kaolin (5.0/0.1 mg/mL in 0.15 M NaCl, intratracheal inoculation, lasting for 24 h-210 days) incites acute inflammatory reaction at early periods and increases in the fibroblastic activity in the focal areas in mice[5].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: ICR mice[4]
Dosage: 0.05 and 0.2 mg
Administration: intratracheal instillation, lasting for 3 h
Result: Significantly induced DNA damage in the lungs of the mice.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
