Description

Monocalcium glycerophosphate is an inhibitor of intestinal alkaline phosphatase F3, and it has anti-cavity properties. Monocalcium glycerophosphate is a source of calcium and phosphorus in total parenteral nutrition solutions, helps prevent the mineralization and development of bones from intravenous nutrition, and maintains the integrity of the intestinal epithelium[1][2][3].

In Vitro

Monocalcium glycerophosphate (1-1000 μM, 0-24 h) protects trans-epithelial electrical resistance (TEER) in Caco-2 cells and reduces the increase in mannitol permeability rate[1].
Monocalcium glycerophosphate (0.10%, 0.25%, 0.50%) significantly decreases the level of demineralization in an in vitro bacterial flow chamber model[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Monocalcium glycerophosphate (at a concentration that meets the needs for intravenous injection in piglets of 15 mmol Ca and 15 mmol P/kg/day, via jugular catheterization, seven days) can serve as an effective source of calcium and phosphorus in piglet TPN solutions, preventing the development of bone mineralization from intravenous nutrition[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Piglets[3]
Dosage: The concentration meets the requirement of 15 mmol of Ca and 15 mmol of P per kg per day for intravenous injection in piglets; 7 days
Administration: Jugular vein catheterization
Result: Increased the retention of calcium and phosphorus, the mineralization of the little pigs' bones had noticeably improved, with higher calcium to lean dry weight ratios observed in the humerus and femur.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
