Antitrypanosomal agent 12 is a C20-phenylthiourea with trypanocidal and cytotoxic activities. Antitrypanosomal agent 12 shows antitrypanosomal activity with 50% growth inhibition (GI50) values of 0.22 μM. Antitrypanosomal agent 12 induces faster cell swelling in bloodstream-form trypanosomes than Salinomycin (HY-15597).

Description

Antitrypanosomal agent 12 is a C20-phenylthiourea with trypanocidal and cytotoxic activities. Antitrypanosomal agent 12 shows antitrypanosomal activity with 50% growth inhibition (GI50) values of 0.22 μM. Antitrypanosomal agent 12 induces faster cell swelling in bloodstream-form trypanosomes than Salinomycin (HY-15597)[1].

In Vitro

Antitrypanosomal agent 12 (compound 4d) (100 mM; 60 min) displays faster cell swelling activity than native Salinomycin in T. brucei bloodstream forms[1].
Antitrypanosomal agent 12 shows selectivity on T. brucei over HL-60 cells with MIC values of 1 μM (T. brucei), and 10 μM (HL-60 cells), respectivley[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
