Angiotensin II (AT-II), a product of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, is an alternative potent vasoconstrictor without chronotropic or inotropic properties. AT-II alao is a pro-fibrotic compound that acts via membrane-bound receptors (AT-1R/AT-2R) and thereby activates hepatic stellate cells (HSCs).
