Description

BN-82451 dihydrochloride, an orally active and CNS-penetrated antioxidant and a multitargeting neuroprotective agent, exert a significant protection in experimental animal models mimicking aspects of cerebral ischemia, Parkinson disease, Huntington disease, and more particularly amyotrophic lateral sclerosis[1][2].

In Vitro

BN82451 exhibits IC50 values of 0.08 and 0.05 µM for COX-1 and COX-2, respectively[2].
BN82451 acts via three major pathways involved in neuronal death: excitotoxicity, oxidative stress, and inflammation, and is also a mitochondrial protective agent[2].
BN82451 inhibits lipid peroxidation in rat brain microsomes in a concentration-dependent manner with an IC50 value of 0.54 µM[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

BN-82451 improves motor ability and attenuates neurodegeneration in a mouse model of Huntington’s disease (HD)[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
