PPA1 - inorganic pyrophosphatase 1 Gene

Homo sapiens

Also known as PP; PP1; IOPPP; HEL-S-66p; SID6-8061

Gene ID: 5464 | Gene type: protein coding

About PPA1

Cytogenetic location: 10q22.1 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 10:70,202,835-70,233,429 (from NCBI)

This gene has 6 transcripts (splice variants), 284 orthologues and 1 paralogue. Ubiquitous expression in adrenal (RPKM 81.3), colon (RPKM 70.8) and 25 other tissues.

Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the inorganic pyrophosphatase (PPase) family. PPases catalyze the hydrolysis of pyrophosphate to inorganic phosphate, which is important for the phosphate metabolism of cells. Studies of a similar protein in bovine suggested a cytoplasmic localization of this Enzyme. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
