Description

Human milk lysozyme is the lysozyme found in human milk. Human milk lysozyme is thought to be a key defense factor in protecting the gastrointestinal tract of newborns against bacterial infection[1].

In Vitro

Human milk lysozyme (0-300 μg/mL; 2 h) shows superior activity against the skin pathogens Pr. acnes and C. minutissimum. Human milk lysozyme is devoid of activity against the Gram-negative E. coli, Salm. typhimurium, and Bord. bronchiseptica but exerts weak activity against Kleb. pneumonieae and Ps. aeruginosa. Human milk lysozyme shows no activity against Staph. epidermidis and weak activity against Staph. aureus and Str. zooepidemicus[1].
