Description

Quinocarcin (DC-52) is a potent antitumor antibiotic. Quinocarcin inhibits Bacillus subtilis DNA, RNA and protein syntheses[1][2].

In Vitro

Quinocarcin (100 µg/mM; 0-20 min) inhibits Bacillus subtilis DNA, RNA and protein syntheses[1].
Quinocarcin (0.1, 1, 10 mM) interactes with PM2 DNA in a dose-dependent manner[1].
Quinocarcin (0-100 µM) shows cell cytotoxicity with LC50 values of >100, 3.18, 3.83, 0.49, 84.85, 43.27 µM for LOX-IMVI; SK-MEL-5, UACC-62, UACC-257, MALME-3M cells, respectively[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Cell Cytotoxicity Assay[3]

Cell Line: LOX-IMVI; SK-MEL-5, UACC-62, UACC-257, MALME-3M cells
Concentration: 0-100 µM
Incubation Time:
Result: Showed cell cycotoxicity with 50% cytotoxicity (LC50) values of >100, 3.18, 3.83, 0.49, 84.85, 43.27 µM for LOX-IMVI; SK-MEL-5, UACC-62, UACC-257, MALME-3M cells, respectively.
In Vivo

Quinocarcin (40 mg/kg, i.p.) shows antitumor activity in mice[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Mice (SK-MEL-2 tumors) [3]
Dosage: 40 mg/kg
Administration: I.p.; on days 14, 21, and 28
Result: Inhibited tumor growth by 89%.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
