Description

ACAT2, Human (Trx-His) is the major ACAT enzyme in human hepatocytes. ACAT2, Human is an important regulator of susceptibility to the development of atherosclerosis.

Background

ACAT2 is the major ACAT enzyme in human hepatocytes. Currently, two ACAT isozymes, ACAT1 and ACAT2, have been identified in humans and in animals. ACAT2 expression predominantly in the liver and intestine. ACAT2 is the major isoenzyme in monkey and mouse hepatocytes. ACAT1 is the major isoform in human hepatocytes. ACAT2 is identified as an important regulator of susceptibility to the development of atherosclerosis. Studies in mouse models of atherosclerosis showed reduced amounts of atherosclerosis when ACAT2 was deficient[1][2].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
