Cat. No.: HY-P76841
SDS COA Handling Instructions

CNTN5/Contactin-5 protein mediates cell surface interactions in nervous system development, promoting neurite outgrowth in cerebral cortical neurons but not in hippocampal neurons. It is involved in auditory system neuronal activity and interacts with PTPRG, potentially regulating neuronal functions and connectivity. CNTN5/Contactin-5 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived CNTN5/Contactin-5 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag. The total length of CNTN5/Contactin-5 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is 1041 a.a., with molecular weight of ~115-150 kDa.

Background

Contactin-5 (CNTN5) plays a crucial role in mediating cell surface interactions during nervous system development. While it exhibits neurite outgrowth-promoting activity in cerebral cortical neurons, it does not exert the same effect in hippocampal neurons. CNTN5 is implicated in neuronal activity within the auditory system, highlighting its potential role in sensory processes. Furthermore, it interacts with protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor gamma (PTPRG), suggesting a molecular partnership that may contribute to the regulation of neuronal functions and connectivity.

Biological Activity

Measured by its ability to enhance the outgrowth of SH-SY5Y cells. The ED50 of this effect is 1.986 μg/mL, corresponding to a specific activity is 503.525 units/mg.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
