CNTN5/Contactin-5 Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His)

Cat. No.: HY-P76842
COA Handling Instructions

The CNTN5/Contactin-5 protein is a member of the contactin family and plays a crucial role in mediating cell surface interactions during nervous system development. Although it exhibits neurite growth-promoting activity in cerebral cortical neurons, it does not exhibit the same effect in hippocampal neurons, highlighting its cell type-specific function in neuronal growth. CNTN5/Contactin-5 Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His) is the recombinant mouse-derived CNTN5/Contactin-5 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag.

Description

The CNTN5/Contactin-5 protein is a member of the contactin family and plays a crucial role in mediating cell surface interactions during nervous system development. Although it exhibits neurite growth-promoting activity in cerebral cortical neurons, it does not exhibit the same effect in hippocampal neurons, highlighting its cell type-specific function in neuronal growth. CNTN5/Contactin-5 Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His) is the recombinant mouse-derived CNTN5/Contactin-5 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag.

Background

Contactin-5 (CNTN5) is a protein crucial for mediating cell surface interactions during nervous system development, emphasizing its role in the establishment of neural connections. It exhibits neurite outgrowth-promoting activity, particularly in cerebral cortical neurons, highlighting its involvement in the extension of neuronal processes during brain development (By similarity). Interestingly, this neurite outgrowth-promoting activity is not observed in hippocampal neurons, suggesting a context-dependent function. CNTN5 is also implicated in neuronal activity within the auditory system, underlining its diverse roles in various regions of the nervous system. Furthermore, CNTN5 interacts with PTPRG, suggesting potential involvement in signaling pathways or cellular adhesion during neural development. The multifaceted functions and interactions of Contactin-5 underscore its importance in orchestrating complex processes during nervous system development.

Biological Activity

Measured by the ability of the immobilized protein to support the adhesion of C6 Rat brain glial cells. When 5×104 cells/well are added to CNTN5 coated plates (2.5μg/mL and 100 μL/well), approximately 51.30% will adhere specifically after 60 minutes at 37°C.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
