Both isoform 1 and isoform 2 of MAdCAM1 demonstrate the ability to adhere to integrin alpha-4/beta-7. Notably, isoform 2, distinguished by its lack of the mucin-like domain, may specialize in supporting integrin alpha-4/beta-7-dependent adhesion strengthening, independently of L-selectin binding.
