Mer Protein, a receptor tyrosine kinase, transduces signals by binding ligands like LGALS3, TUB, TULP1, or GAS6, regulating cell survival, migration, differentiation, and apoptotic cell phagocytosis (efferocytosis). Ligand binding induces MERTK autophosphorylation, creating docking sites for downstream molecules. Moreover, Mer inhibits Toll-like receptors (TLRs)-mediated innate immune responses by activating STAT1, inducing SOCS1 and SOCS3 production.
