ODC1 Protein, Human (His-SUMO, Myc)

Cat. No.: HY-P702593
Handling Instructions

ODC (ornithine decarboxylase) is the rate-limiting enzyme in polyamine biosynthesis, catalyzing the conversion of ornithine to putrescine, a precursor of polyamines such as spermidine and spermine, which influence cell proliferation and various cellular processes. ODC1 Protein, Human (His-SUMO, Myc) is the recombinant human-derived ODC1, expressed by E. coli , with N-10*His, C-Myc, N-SUMO labeled tag.

Description

ODC1 Protein, Human (His-SUMO, Myc) is the recombinant human-derived ODC1, expressed by E. coli , with N-10*His, C-Myc, N-SUMO labeled tag.

Background

ODC (Ornithine Decarboxylase) is the rate-limiting enzyme in polyamine biosynthesis, and its activity is regulated by specific inhibitors, AZs (Antiaminoacidases), which in turn are inhibited by AZI (Antiaminoacidase Inhibitors). ODC1 catalyzes the first and rate-limiting step in polyamine biosynthesis, converting ornithine to putrescine, a precursor of polyamines such as spermidine and spermine. Polyamines are essential for cell proliferation and are involved in a variety of cellular processes ranging from DNA replication to apoptosis.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
