Background

PFDN4 protein exhibits precise binding to cytosolic chaperonin (c-CPN), facilitating the targeted transfer of proteins to this chaperone. Additionally, PFDN4 binds to nascent polypeptide chains, actively promoting their proper folding within a cellular environment characterized by numerous competing pathways for nonnative proteins. As a heterohexamer composed of two PFD-alpha type and four PFD-beta type subunits, PFDN4 plays a crucial role in cellular protein homeostasis.
