COA Handling Instructions

PICALM Human Recombinant Protein (HEK293, C-His) plays a critical role in recruiting clathrin and adapter protein complex 2 (AP2) to the cell membrane during coated pit formation and clathrin-vesicle assembly effect. It regulates the size of the clathrin cage and determines membrane recycling. PICALM Recombinant Protein,Human (HEK293,C-His) is the recombinant human-derived PICALM Recombinant protein,Human(HEK293,C-His), expressed by HEK293 , with C-10*His labeled tag. The total length of PICALM Recombinant Protein,Human (HEK293,C-His) is 652 a.a., with molecular weight of ~90-150 kDa.

Background

The PICALM gene encodes a clathrin assembly protein crucial for recruiting clathrin and adaptor protein complex 2 (AP2) to cell membranes during coated-pit formation and clathrin-vesicle assembly. Its role may extend to regulating the size of the clathrin cage, thus determining the amount of membrane to be recycled. This protein is implicated in AP2-dependent clathrin-mediated endocytosis, particularly at the neuromuscular junction. Notably, chromosomal translocation involving this gene is associated with various hematological malignancies. Additionally, polymorphisms in this gene are linked to Alzheimer's disease risk. The gene exhibits ubiquitous expression, with notable levels observed in fat, appendix, and 25 other tissues. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
