Description

PPAR alpha Protein, Mouse (His), a member of the nuclear receptor family, is a transcription factor that regulates the expression of genes related to lipid metabolism in a ligand-dependent manner.

Background

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are ligand-dependent transcription factors that belong to the nuclear receptor superfamily comprising 48 members in human. PPARs include three subtypes, PPARα, PPARγ, and PPARδ. PPARα is involved in lipid homeostasis by regulating the transcription of sets of genes related to lipid metabolism and thereby reducing blood triglyceride levels. PPARα has attracted attention as a target for hypolipidemic drugs[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
