Background

Prostasin/PRSS8 protein exhibits trypsin-like cleavage specificity, with a particular affinity for poly-basic substrates. It plays a crucial role in stimulating the activity of the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) by activating the cleavage of its gamma subunits (SCNN1G). Structurally, it is composed of two chains, a light and a heavy chain, which are held together by a disulfide bond, forming a heterodimeric complex.

Biological Activity

Measured by its ability to cleave the fluorogenic peptide substrate Boc-QAR-AMC. The specific activity is 121.6525 pmol/min/µg, as measured under the described conditions.
