COA Handling Instructions

Sulfotransferase 1B1 (SULT1B1) is a sulfotransferase that utilizes 3'-phospho-5'-adenylyl sulfate (PAPS) as sulfonate donor to catalyze the sulfate conjugation of dopamine, small phenols such as 1-naphthol and p-nitrophenol, thyroid hormones and many xenobiotic compounds.SULT1B1 may play a role in gut microbiota-host metabolic interaction.SULT1B1 Protein, Human (His) is the recombinant human-derived SULT1B1 protein, expressed by E.coli , with N-6*His labeled tag.

Background

Sulfotransferase 1B1 (SULT1B1) is a sulfotransferase that utilizes 3'-phospho-5'-adenylyl sulfate (PAPS) as sulfonate donor to catalyze the sulfate conjugation of dopamine, small phenols such as 1-naphthol and p-nitrophenol and thyroid hormones, including 3,3'-diiodothyronine, triidothyronine (T3) and reverse triiodothyronine (rT3).
SULT1B1 may play a role in gut microbiota-host metabolic interaction, as one of the products derived from a dietary tyrosine-derived metabolite produced by gut bacteria, 4-EPS, crosses the blood-brain barrier and may negatively regulate oligodendrocyte maturation and myelination, affecting the functional connectivity of different brain regions associated with the limbic system[1][2][3][4].

Biological Activity

Measured by its ability to transfer sulfate from PAPS to 1-Napthol. The specific activity is 37.98 pmol/min/μg that incubate at 37°C for 20 minutes.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
