Description

Transferrin, a blood-plasma glycoprotein, is a target ligand for transferrin receptor. Transferrins can bind to and mediate the transport of iron[1][2][3].

IC50 & Target

Transferrin receptor[1]

In Vitro

Transferrins (0.2, 1 and 5 μM, 30 min) enhances the enzymatic activity of thrombin[2].
Transferrins (0.2, 1 and 5 μM, 30 min) enhances the ability of thrombin and FXIIa to hydrolyze their natural substrates (fibrinogen)[2].
Transferrins can conjugate with cytochrome c, the conjugates can be uptaken by transferrin receptor overexpressing A549 cells, thereby inducing cell death[3].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
