Description

VBIT-3 is an inhibitor of voltage-dependent anion channel 1 (VDAC1) oligomerization with a binding affinity (Kd) of 31.3 μM. VBIT-3, as an apoptosis inhibitor, can be used for therapeutic purposes in apoptosis-associated disorders, such as neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases[1].

IC50 & Target

Kd: 31.3 μM (VDAC1)[1]
Apoptosis[1]

In Vitro

VBIT-3 targets the mitochondrial protein VDAC1, inhibit apoptosis and protect against mitochondria dysfunction[1].
VBIT-3 (0.1-10 μM) inhibits VDAC1 oligomerization, Cyto c release from mitochondria and apoptosis in HEK-293 cells with IC50s of 8.8±0.56 μM, 6.6±1.03 μM, and 7.5±0.27 μM, respectively[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
