2-Deoxy-D-glucose 6-phosphate is an intermediate of 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) . 2-Deoxy-D-glucose is incorporated into glycogen.

At equivalent molar concentrations, both the salt and free forms of a compound exhibit comparable biological activity. Nevertheless, the salt form (2-Deoxy-D-glucose 6-phosphate disodium) usually boasts enhanced water solubility and stability.

Description

2-Deoxy-D-glucose 6-phosphate is an intermediate of 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) [1]. 2-Deoxy-D-glucose is incorporated into glycogen[2].

In Vitro

Acting as a D-glucose mimic, 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) inhibits glycolysis due to formation and intracellular accumulation of 2-deoxy-D-glucose-6-phosphate (2-DG6P), inhibiting the function of hexokinase and glucose-6-phosphate isomerase, and inducing cell death[3].
The accumulation of 2-deoxyglucose-6-phosphate (2-DG6P), detected using 31P nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, is used to assess glucose uptake before and during insulin stimulation in the isolated perfused heart[4].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
