Luciferase is an enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of the substrate luciferin and produces bioluminescence. Luciferase can reflect the content of related substances by detecting the intensity of the light signal. Luciferase can monitor the growth and metastasis of cancer cells and evaluate the efficacy of anticancer agents.

Description

Luciferase is an enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of the substrate luciferin and produces bioluminescence. Luciferase can reflect the content of related substances by detecting the intensity of the light signal. Luciferase can monitor the growth and metastasis of cancer cells and evaluate the efficacy of anticancer agents[1][2][3].

In Vitro

Luciferase monitors changes in ATP concentration in different regions within HL-1 cells and outside the cells[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Luciferase (labels HEK293 cells stably expressing pmeLUC;i.p. or intramass injection) can measure the ATP concentration in the tumor microenvironment in real-time in the mouse tumor model inoculated with HEK293 cells stably expressing pmeLUC[1].
Luciferase can clearly monitor the growth of cancer cells in a mouse model in which RENCALUC cells are inoculated subcutaneously[2].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
