E-Selectin

E-Selectin; CD62E; ELAM1; LECAM-2

E-selectin (CD62E) is an adhesion molecule expressed on endothelial cells. The E-selectin molecule consists of five unique components, including an amino-terminal lectin domain that interacts with ligands, an epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domain, a complement regulatory-like domain, a transmembrane domain, and a C-terminal cytoplasmic tail. E-selectin expression is induced by inflammatory stimuli and oxidative stress, and its expression levels correlate with endothelial cell damage. Inhibition of E-selectin may reduce thrombosis, vascular leakage, and cancer metastasis[1].
