Description

Dabcyl acid sodium (DABCYL sodium) is a nonfluorescent chromophore and a quencher. Dabcyl acid sodium can be used as molecular beacon nucleic acid probes to recognize and report the presence of specific nucleic acids in homogeneous solutions[1][2].

In Vitro

Dabcyl acid sodium is paired with fluorophores (such as EDANS) for fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). When the fluorophore (such as EDANS) and Dabcyl acid sodium are close to each other, the fluorescence of the fluorophore will be quenched by Dabcyl acid sodium. When the molecular beacon binds to the target nucleic acid, the fluorophore and the quencher are separated, and the fluorophore emits fluorescence, thereby realizing the detection of the target nucleic acid[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
