Description

Diethylamine NONOate (DEA NONOate, diethylammonium salt) is a nitric oxide donor. Diethylamine NONOate is a potent antimicrobial agent, which can inhibit Escherichia coli growth. Diethylamine NONOate also can enhance preservation of the donor rat heart[1][2].

In Vitro

Diethylamine NONOate (8 and 65 mM; 0-20 h) diethylammonium salt shows the greatest inhibitory effect on E. coli growth at a dose of 65 mM for 20 h, resulting in a 99.9% reduction in E. coli[1].

In Vivo

Diethylamine NONOate (0.1 micromol/L; infused into the coronary circulation; 6 or 12 h) diethylammonium salt enhances the protection of coronary blood flow and cardiac function in isolated rat hearts after storage at 2-3 °C for 12 h[2].
