Description

Glyco-obeticholic acid is an active metabolite of Obeticholic acid. Obeticholic acid is a farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist[1].

In Vitro

Obeticholic acid is conjugated with glycine in the liver to form glycol-obeticholic acid, which is secreted into bile. Microorganisms in the ileum and colon can deconjugate glyco-obeticholic acid, converting it into the parent drug, which may then be reabsorbed or excreted in faeces[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
