Description

GW438014A is a potent and selective NPY-Y5 receptor antagonist. GW438014A inhibits food intake and reduces body weight gain in obese rodents[1].

In Vivo

GW438014A (10 mg/kg; i.p.; daily, for 7 d) inhibits spontaneous as well as overnight fasting-induced and NPY-induced feeding in rats and in food-deprived genetically obese ob/ob mice[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: obese ob/ob mice[1]
Dosage: 10 mg/kg
Administration: intraperitoneal injection; daily, for 7 d
Result: Decreased the rate of weight gain in both lean and obese rats.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
