Kallikrein-6 Protein, Human (HEK293, His)

Cat. No.: HY-P70887
SDS COA Handling Instructions

Kallikrein-6 is a serine protease that exhibits substrate preference and activity against different substrates. It degrades alpha-synuclein, plays a role in synucleinopathies, and may regulate axonal growth after spinal cord injury. Kallikrein-6 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived Kallikrein-6 protein, expressed by HEK 293 , with C-6*His labeled tag.

Description

Kallikrein-6 is a serine protease that exhibits substrate preference and activity against different substrates. It degrades alpha-synuclein, plays a role in synucleinopathies, and may regulate axonal growth after spinal cord injury. Kallikrein-6 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived Kallikrein-6 protein, expressed by HEK 293 , with C-6*His labeled tag.

Background

Kallikrein-6, a serine protease, displays a preference for Arg over Lys in the substrate P1 position and for Ser or Pro in the P2 position. It exhibits activity against diverse substrates, including amyloid precursor protein, myelin basic protein, gelatin, casein, and extracellular matrix proteins such as fibronectin, laminin, vitronectin, and collagen. Notably, Kallikrein-6 degrades alpha-synuclein, preventing its polymerization and suggesting a potential involvement in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease and other synucleinopathies. Additionally, it may play a role in regulating axon outgrowth following spinal cord injury. Tumor cells treated with a neutralizing KLK6 antibody demonstrate reduced migration, indicating a potential role in invasion and metastasis. Kallikrein-6 is susceptible to inhibition by various serine protease inhibitors, including soybean trypsin inhibitor, benzamidine, and serpins. Furthermore, its activity is modulated by several glycosaminoglycans, such as chondroitin sulfate, dermatan sulfate, heparan sulfate, and heparin.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
