Kallikrein-8 Protein, Human (HEK293, His)

Cat. No.: HY-P73265
SDS COA Handling Instructions

Kallikrein-8 protein is a serine protease that degrades proteins such as casein, fibrinogen, kininogen, fibronectin, and type IV collagen. It cleaves L1CAM in response to neural activity, promoting neurite growth in hippocampal neurons. Kallikrein-8 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived Kallikrein-8 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag.

Description

Kallikrein-8 protein is a serine protease that degrades proteins such as casein, fibrinogen, kininogen, fibronectin, and type IV collagen. It cleaves L1CAM in response to neural activity, promoting neurite growth in hippocampal neurons. Kallikrein-8 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived Kallikrein-8 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag.

Background

Kallikrein-8 Protein is a serine protease known for its ability to degrade various proteins including casein, fibrinogen, kininogen, fibronectin, and collagen type IV. It also cleaves L1CAM in response to heightened neural activity, leading to neurite outgrowth and fasciculation in cultured hippocampal neurons. This protein plays a crucial role in the formation and maturation of orphan and small synaptic boutons in the Schaffer-collateral pathway, thereby regulating Schaffer-collateral long-term potentiation in the hippocampus and contributing to memory acquisition and synaptic plasticity. Additionally, Kallikrein-8 is involved in skin desquamation, keratinocyte proliferation, and plays a role in the secondary phase of pathogenesis following spinal cord injury.

<1 EU/μg, determined by LAL method.

Reconstitution

It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL in ddH2O.

Storage & Stability

Stored at -20°C for 2 years. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
