HRG1-β1 belongs to a family of structurally-related polypeptide growth factors derived from alternatively spliced genes, induces Fn14 expression in MCF7 cells. HRG1-β1 activates HER2/HER3 signaling and up-regulate Fn14 gene expression in parental MCF7 cells. HRG1-β1-mediated Fn14 up-regulation in MCF7/HER2-18 cells is required for maximal MMP-9 production.

ED₅₀ ≤ 0.5 ng/mL, determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of human MCF-7 cells.
