Description

Salsolidine hydrochloride, a tetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloid, acts as a stereoselective competitive MAO A (monoamine oxidase A) inhibitor.

IC50 & Target

MAO A[1]

In Vitro

Salsolidine hydrochloride is a tetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloid, acts as a stereoselective competitive MAO A inhibitor. The R-salsolidine is more active against MAO A than S-salsolidine (Ki=6 μM and 186 μM)[1].
Salsolidine weakly inhibits the binding of δ-receptor, with a Ki of >100 μM[2].
Salsolidine has the potential of inhibiting acetylcholinestearse and butyrylcholinesterase[3].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
