Description

3-Methyl-L-histidine is an endogenous amino acid that can be found in actin and myosin[1].

In Vitro

3-Methyl-L-histidine could be used as a robust, unequivocal index of that proportion of the total protein in food products derived from lean meat. 3-Methyl-L-histidine is absent from soya protein[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Adherence to high chicken protein diet (HCD) alleviated excessive weight gain and glycemic control regardless of the presence of gut microbiota in apolipoprotein E-deficient mice. In contrast, long-term HCD administration enhanced intestinal cholesterol absorption and accelerated atherosclerotic plaque formation in a gut microbiota-dependent manner. 3-Methyl-L-histidine results from an enrichment of Lachnospiraceae, as the key microbial effector to the atherogenic effect of HCD. 3-Methyl-L-histidine facilitates the binding of hepatocyte nuclear factor 1A (HNF1A) to the promoter of NPC1-like intracellular cholesterol transporter 1 (NPC1L1)[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo:

For the following dissolution methods, please prepare the working solution directly. It is recommended to prepare fresh solutions and use them promptly within a short period of time.
The percentages shown for the solvents indicate their volumetric ratio in the final prepared solution. If precipitation or phase separation occurs during preparation, heat and/or sonication can be used to aid dissolution.
