Description

GSTM1 Antibody (YA2308) is a biotin-conjugated non-conjugated IgG antibody, targeting GSTM1, with a predicted molecular weight of 26 kDa (observed band size: 26 kDa). GSTM1 Antibody (YA2308) can be used for WB experiment in human, mouse, rat background.

Background

Cytosolic and membrane-bound forms of glutathione S-transferase are encoded by two distinct superrelated gene families. At present, eight distinct classes of the soluble cytoplasmic mammalian glutathione S-transferases have been identified: alpha, kappa, mu, omega, pi, sigma, theta and zeta. The related gene encodes a glutathione S-transferase that belongs to the mu class. The mu class of enzymes functions in the detoxification of electrophilic compounds, including carcinogens, therapeutic drugs, environmental toxins and products of oxidative stress, by conjugation with glutathione. The related genes encoding the mu class of enzymes are organized in a related gene cluster on chromosome 1p13.3 and are known to be highly polymorphic. These related genetic variations can change an individual's susceptibility to carcinogens and toxins as well as affect the toxicity and efficacy of certain drugs. Null mutations of The class mu related gene have been linked with an increase in a number of cancers, likely due to an increased susceptibility to environmental toxins and carcinogens. Multiple protein isoforms are encoded by transcript variants of The related gene.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
