Description

Bupropion morpholinol (Hydroxy Bupropion) is a major metabolite of Bupropion. Bupropion morpholinol inhibits Dopamine, Norepinephrine transporters and the α4β2 nicotinic receptor in vitro. Bupropion morpholinol contributes to antidepressant and smoking cessation activities[1][2][3].

IC50 & Target

Dopamine transporter[2], Norepinephrine transporter[2], α4β2 nicotinic receptor[2]

In Vitro

Bupropion morpholinol is produced from Bupropion by the genetically polymorphic enzyme CYP2B6 in vivo[1].
Bupropion morpholinol inhibits [3H]norepinephrine uptake with an IC50 of 1.7 μM[2].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
