Background

The EIF5A Protein is characterized by its ability to enable U6 snRNA binding activity and protein N-terminus binding activity. It plays a role in diverse cellular processes, including the cellular response to viruses, positive regulation of the intrinsic apoptotic signaling pathway by p53 class mediator, and the tumor necrosis factor-mediated signaling pathway. The protein is found in annulate lamellae, cytoplasm, and the nucleus, with a specific association with the nuclear pore. Notably, the EIF5A gene demonstrates ubiquitous expression, with elevated levels detected in the esophagus (RPKM 53.8), appendix (RPKM 49.4), and 25 other tissues, suggesting its involvement in various physiological contexts across a broad spectrum of tissues.
