Manninotrionate (potassium) is an antitumor compound with highly specific immunoreactivity for terminal α-D-Galp-(1----6)-α-D-Galp units. Manninotrionate (potassium) is able to form complexes with bovine serum albumin (BSA), and antisera to this compound-protein conjugate have been prepared in rabbits. Antisera to manninotrionate (potassium) showed the highest reactivity with the homologous manninotrionate-BSA antigen in quantitative precipitation and ligand inhibition studies, but also had extensive cross-reactivity with manninotrionate-ovalbumin complexes. Antisera to manninotrionate (potassium) showed weak precipitation reactions with bovine lung galactose polymers, guar gum, gum arabic, and larch arabinogalactose polymers.
