Description

KUS121, a valosin-containing protein (VCP, p97) modulator with significant neuroprotective effects, attenuates ischemic retinal cell death via suppressing endoplasmic reticulum stress[1][2].

In Vitro

KUS121 protects neurons from cell death under oxygen glucose deprivation (OGD) by preventing ATP depletion[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

KUS121 (IVT injection, 25 μg/eye) appears to show a better suppression of inner retinal thinning 7 and 14 days after the ischemic insult. KUS121 (IVT injection) also shows a better preservation of GFP-positive RGCs and equally preserved b-wave amplitude 14 days after the insult. KUS121 (IVT injection) also exerts neuroprotective effects on retinal morphology and function after ischemic damage[1].
KUS121 suppresses thinning of the outer nuclear layer and maintained visual function. KUS121 (retinas) suppresses endoplasmic reticulum stress, activates mammalian target of rapamycin and suppresses disease-associated apoptosis[3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
