SDS COA Handling Instructions Technical Support

L-Pipecolic acid (H-HoPro-OH) is an oral active metabolite of Lysine and can accumulate in the bodily fluids of infants with autosomal inherited diseases, such as Zellweger syndrome and neonatal adrenal insufficiency. L-Pipecolic acid can promote muscle cell health and growth by enhancing protein synthesis, and plays a role in promoting gut health. L-Pipecolic acid holds promise for research in the fields of metabolic disorders, muscle growth disorders, and intestinal diseases.

IC50 & Target

Human Endogenous Metabolite

In Vitro

L-Pipecolic acid (100 μM, 30 minutes) significantly increases the rate of protein synthesis in C2C12 myotubes, showing stronger effects than L-lysine (HY-N0469) [3].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Western Blot Analysis[3]

Cell Line: C2C12 myotubes (skeletal muscle, C2C12 mouse)
Concentration: 100 μM
Incubation Time: 30 min
Result: Significantly suppressed the rate of protein degradation and autophagy activity, with no effect on the ubiquitin-proteasomal system.
In Vivo

L-Pipecolic acid (250 mg/kg, p.o., once a day, for 7 days) improves intestinal motility in Loperamide (HY-156131)-induced constipated mice and increases 5-HT levels[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Loperamide (HY-156131)-induced constipation model in C57BL/6 mice[2]
Dosage: 250 mg/kg
Administration: Oral gavage (p.o.), once a day, for 7 consecutive days
Result: Showed significantly increased fecal water content, improved intestinal transit rate, shortened first black stool defecation time, and significantly increased 5-HT levels.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
