Description

Purpurin 18, a derivative of chlorophyll and a type of dihydroporphyrin, is used to produce photosensitizers. Purpurin 18 photodynamic therapy can induce cell apoptosis and has anti-tumor activity[1][2].

In Vitro

Purpurin 18 (0-10 μM, 24 h) shows cytotoxicity to 4T1 cells under light reaction conditions, exhibiting strong photodynamic activity[1].
Purpurin 18 (0.5 μM, 4 h) PDT treatment induces apoptosis in 2D cultured 4T1 cells[1].
Purpurin 18 is mainly accumulated in the lysosomes of 4T1 cells[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Cell Viability Assay[1]

Cell Line: 4T1
Concentration: 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, 10 μM
Incubation Time: 24 h
Result: Was non-cytotoxic at doses below 4 μM in the absence of light, but was cytotoxic when combined with light.

Apoptosis Analysis[1]

Cell Line: 4T1 (PTD)
Concentration: 0.5 μM
Incubation Time: 4 h
Result: Induced 50% cell apoptosis.
In Vivo

Purpurin 18 (0.625 mg/kg, intratumoral injection, single dose) has good photodynamic efficacy in mouse models. Purpurin 18 photodynamic therapy (PDT) inhibits tumor proliferation in mice[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Subcutaneous injection of 4T1 mouse model (PDT treatment)[1]
Dosage: 0.625 mg/kg; single dose
Administration: Intratumoral injection
Result: Had good photodynamic efficacy, did not affect body weight and major organ functions, and inhibited tumor proliferation.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
