Description

5'-Guanylic acid (5'-GMP) is a nucleotide and can be used as a feeding stimulant for aqua feed production. 5'-Guanylic acid is able to decrease the levels of anxiety. 5'-Guanylic acid increases Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) (HY-B2167) content in the liver cells. 5'-Guanylic acid (50-500 μM, 2 days) directly affects fatty acid composition through modification of fatty acid metabolism-related genes in the liver cells of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)[1].

Result: Significantly downregulated elovl5 with 50 and 100 μM at 12 h and upregulated Δ5 fads2 at 24 h.
Upregulated elovl2 and pparα with 50 and 100 μM at 48 h.
Downregulated the lxr gene significantly with 50 μM at 24 h.
In Vivo

5'-Guanylic acid (25, 50 mg/kg, i.p., 1 h before each behavioral task) decreases rats anxiety levels in the classical behavioral tasks[2].

Animal Model: Adult male Wistar rats (60-90 days old, 250-350 g)[2]
Dosage: 10, 25, 50, 100, 150 mg/kg
Administration: i.p., 1 h before each behavioral task
Result: Increased number of transitions between the light and dark compartments at 50 mg/kg.
Increased the total exploration time on the light compartment of the apparatus and the time spent in open arms at 25 and 50 mg/kg.
The lowest dose (10 mg/kg), and the highest dose (100 and 150 mg/kg) did not exhibit alterations of the analyzed parameters when compared with controls.
