Also known as SFA2; B-ATF; BATF1; SFA-2

Gene ID: 10538 | Gene type: protein coding

About BATF

Cytogenetic location: 14q24.3 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 14:75,522,469-75,546,992 (from NCBI)

This gene has 3 transcripts (splice variants), 203 orthologues and 8 paralogues. Broad expression in lymph node (RPKM 11.0), appendix (RPKM 9.8) and 14 other tissues.

Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a nuclear basic leucine zipper protein that belongs to the AP-1/ATF superfamily of transcription factors. The leucine zipper of this protein mediates dimerization with members of the Jun family of proteins. This protein is thought to be a negative regulator of AP-1/ATF transcriptional events.
