Description

Amprolium hydrochloride is an anti-parasitic drug that's kind of taken orally, and it acts as an antagonist to thiamine in intestinal absorption[1][2][3][4].

IC50 & Target

Coccidia

In Vivo

Amprolium hydrochloride (1 g/L, oral, daily, for 7 days) can be used as a preventive measure in rabbits in combination with other anti-coccidial drugs[1].
Amprolium hydrochloride (8 mg-2 g, taken orally or injected subcutaneously, daily, for 4-34 days) exerts an antagonistic effect with thiamine primarily at the level of the intestinal epithelial cells, impacting thiamine absorption. Once administered directly bypassing the gut, it does not significantly affect thiamine's entry into other tissue cells[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Rabbits of white and California white breeds[1]
Dosage: 1 g/L; daily; 7 days
Administration: Oral
Result: Had a good effect when used as preventive measures or combined with other antibody-resistant drugs.
Animal Model: Rat with lack of thiamine[2]
Dosage: 8 mg, daily, 4 days
Administration: Oral
Result: prevented the normal accumulation of thiamine in the tissue, and the antagonistic effect on the absorption of thumine was only existed at the intestinal level.
Animal Model: Rat with lack of thiamine[2]
Dosage: 2 g, daily, 34 days
Administration: Subcutaneous injection (s.c.)
Result: Did not prevent the deposition of thumine in the organs, and its level was close to the level reached by separate injection of thiamine.

In Vivo:

For the following dissolution methods, please prepare the working solution directly. It is recommended to prepare fresh solutions and use them promptly within a short period of time.
The percentages shown for the solvents indicate their volumetric ratio in the final prepared solution. If precipitation or phase separation occurs during preparation, heat and/or sonication can be used to aid dissolution.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
